everyone must follow what makes them happy.
I personally would not go anywhere near it.
For those of you who are sitting at home (or work) and are being entertained by the discussion on the “Review of System: BigCap Trader Longer-Term” thread in the “Reviews of C2 Systems & News” forum, I would like to point out that our resident expert Mr. Canfield does not discriminate when it comes to denigrating systems.
He will try to rescue others from investing in any kind of system including those with an APD of 0.20+, profit factor of 1.4+, etc. In the other forum, he also posts the Equity Curve is not an accurate indicator of a system, yet he uses the equity curve to determine that a system has died.
He will continue to play the “random” and “just got lucky” cards while legitimate systems continue to make money.
He never replied to my previous post on this thread, so I expect that he never completed the homework assignment (in order to really learn the characteristics of a good system).
Readers, here is a hint: length of drawdowns is generally a function of the system’s trading time frame, i.e. longer-term systems have longer drawdowns.
Thanks for reading!
what makes you think that you are in a position to give homework?
Mr. Canfield,
I have no position other than the net trading positions that go in my favor (as shown in my systems equity curve, stats and trading record).
Obviously you are free to disregard my posts and/or my opinion as you wish.
My posts (and most non-bashing posts on this site) have absolutely no meaning for anyone who is not open to learning all they can without prejudice.
I wrote the previous post in this thread to describe my trading style and provide an explanation for the systems long drawdown periods. My suggestion about doing your homework is to provide one example of a resource you can use to determine that there are many great systems with proven multi-year (or even multi-decade) results, which have drawdowns of 9 months or more at minimum.
I consider starting a new campaign at Collective2: providing bumper-stickers to the C2 community that say Drawdowns happen.
Chris,
Generally, much of what you post indicates some insight. Personally, I will state my opinions, and I have no interest in sugar coating. When people show minimal trade insight, or deny what I say without knowledge of whether it is true or not, I tend to ignore them. Generally, I say what I believe and do not post things about my own abilities falsely. And everyone is entitled to opinions.
To your credit, your system has a lot of things going for it, longterm profitable performance, decent statistics, diversified… I thought it might have been a goner when it went sideways a long time. You are to be congratulated for continuing its overall profitability, and of course, are to be wished success in the future. It is a daunting road, but you seem on the right path.
To your discredit, stooping to Eu’s level on the chat area, taunting instead of discussing the issues. Eu is pretty much the 8 year old boy, sticking his tongue out and dancing around. He knows I have him on ignore, but he continues to taunt on the forum, knowing I will not read or respond. I leave him to his delusions and have no interest in his opinion.
