I would like a way to have your software tell me EXACTLY what the current overnight margin is for a specific futures contract.
Perhaps you could add it to the list of traded futures contracts that shows up through symbol lookup?
Actually, this ties nicely to another feature I have on the to-do list (quite high on the list, meaning: maybe within a week). This will allow you to query the contract database to see trading hours and futures margins based on any symbol you want to look up.
In the interim, you can see the margin that is required after you open the position (probably not what you are asking for, but just in case…)
To see the margin requirements of your positions, just go to your system details page and look at the line item for each trade. In particular, look at the column in the table marked ‘Margin.’ This shows you the amount of margin currently used by each open position.
Just to be clear, Collective2 uses real-time SPAN margins. Every night it goes out to the CME database and downloads the latest SPAN margin requirements. So all margin requirements are up-to-date, which is pretty nifty.

Nope, not what I need. My purpose is to use all my available margin to trade. So one answer would be to place an order for many more contracts than the margin would allow, if you would just fill to available margin. Would save me lots of work, and achieve my goal.
