Market Direction?

Ouch, you really hurt my feelings  Seriously though Lew, the facts are that I’ve been around C2 for 4 years with a positive sharpe, near the highs, and a highly effective methodology that withstood the test of time with 420+ trades under my belt (and counting), 20 day holding long gamma without relying on anyone to feed me signals. Without the drawdown (-87K) that took place early on, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thus, I’m thankful that it happened and took place early on in my career, and a time when I had no subs. It was a path I was destined to take. I could’ve easily created multiple systems to hide my early “failures”, but I chose to show the good, the bad and the ugly all under one roof  On the other hand, you trade high risk/ low reward option strategies. Thus, you have a loooong way to go to. All I’m doing in this forum is questioning the reasoning behind the skewed risk to reward and trying to understand where the “edge” in your methodolgy truly lies. But seriously and honestly, I wish you, like I do to all other vendors, the very best and hope to see you at the top.

Tarek - Given your response, you obviously understand C2 stats and their limitations. That’s why I was puzzled by your analysis which used those figures - especially after knowing C2 doesn’t support spread credit/debit trading. Also, I believe we have a difference of opinion as to the amount of risk my strategy employs.

The following is regarding futures trades, not option spreads:

Though you don’t rely on anyone to feed you signals, you do rely on a strategy that is likely not unique. Relying on signals isn’t much different than this - picking the “strategy” that I think I can improve on, and using my own set of criteria by which to filter it.

The joy of trading, for me, is in how to improve things… and creating the automated processes by which to do so. Eventually (likely by the end of this year), I’ll be using a superset of my strategy to also initiate trades… and at that point I’ll offer my own futures system (open to subscribers). Until then, I’ll continue to make money perfecting broken signals by cashing out of them while they’re still in the green.

I guess the queston for the times. Does toays rally have leggs?

"Does toays rally have leggs?"

ouch

I thought "leggs" is a brand of panty hose.

A few more notes,

"Pinnacle Trading

Open P/L: ($424,449) "

Lew - That “drawdown” was already marked to market, otherwise the graph would be indicative of that, no??

"That seems like a lot of risk (87.68% per C2) for the return"

No Lew, that’s quite incorrect. The -87k was on 100k not the present +720k – a big difference. Thus, the return +720K versus 87k … I’ll take that any day.

@Richard

Well, I can say with certainty that “toays” - that is “today’s” rally did not in fact have legs.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose as much as 1%, however in the last half-hour of trade - gave back some gains to settle with a more modest 0.7% advance.

I’m using tradestation continuous futures data. I see you guys are looking at the SPX/INX. That’s why the different data.

> However…the drawn trendlines from lows from any 2+ data points (lows) has altered over the last 3 and even 4 or 5 years - so your case is shaky.

What “case”? I said that trendline (not the 200 XMA), would be the next target. It hit and held it to the tick. Draw the trend line and see for yourself. The 30 point rally off that trendline is a simple fact. As I said it is likely to be retested. I’ll wait and see how to play it when and if that happens. Telling subscribers and the world on 7-13-07 that the market in “green lighted”… that is “shaky”.
