Matthew,
I appreciate you finding and making another correction to fix the email bug. I sincerely hope it will do the trick.
Would you answer my question from the previous posting…?
"In this scenario, should my subscribers and I receive 2 separate emails?
Thank you
"In this scenario, should my subscribers and I receive 2 separate emails?"
Yes.
Matthew,
It appears that your "fix" did not work.
I had 8 trades today, I only got an email on 3 of them.
The 3 trades I was notified on, were entered manually (not using the park facility).
The 5 I was not notified on, were parked until 10AM, then filled at 10AM.
Are you sure? Because the audit trail says the emails for those "parked" signals were sent to you last night, at 3:16 AM, at the moment you entered the signals.
Remember, even though you parked the signals until 10:00 AM Eastern U.S. time, once the unpark time is specified (10:00 AM), we send the signals right away, and include the unpark time.
Please double-check your email box and look for messages sent at around 3:16 or 3:17 ET last night. I think you will find the emails there.
Matthew,
If you reference CEO’s post above, he specifically asked you if it were reasonable to expect that an email would be sent both at the time the parked order was entered and also at the time the parked order was filled. You confirmed that this expectation was correct. CEO is thus most likely asking about the absence of an expected email at the fill time (10 AM), so an email sent by C2 at 3:16 AM doesn’t address the issue. What about the fill email at 10 AM?
Then I mis-spoke. The way it works is that you should not expect to receive an email only to alert you about an execution that occurred for a previously-emailed order. (We assume that if you are following the signals for a system, you know that your previously-received order has been executed.) The exception to this occurs when another new signal is posted in the interim; in this case, the newly-filled order, previously emailed, will be listed as newly "filled" in the latest email that goes out to alert about the second, newly-posted order.
Jeffrey,
Thank you for trying to helping me clear up this issue. It has been very frustrating/irritating for me and my subscribers. I very much appreciate your post.
Matthew,
Jeffrey is correct. As I said in a previous email, I am getting the "parked until" email but not the "filled" email. Where are the 10AM emails that indicate the trades were filled? Here is the C2 status of one of the trades in question: Emailed, trade filled @1.91 (10/29/09 10:00)
For clarity, I will repeat the events of the email issue
Here is the scenario of events.
1) 10/27/08, 10PM Park a trade until 10/28/09, 10AM
2) 10/28/09, 10AM Parked trade is released
3) 10/28/09, 10:01AM Trade is filled
My expectations
C2 should notify me and my subscribers when my trade is parked and when my trade is executed (item 1 and 3). In this scenario, I expect two separate emails (item1 and item3).
The past two days, I received an email when my trade was parked (item1) but not when my trade was filled.
Your expectations are incorrect. We send signal emails when the emails are actionable. That is, when you issue a new signal at 3AM, and say, "Please enter a market order at 10AM," we send the signal email at 3AM, not 10AM. 3AM is when your order can be acted upon.
No specific email is sent when an order is filled (i.e. at 10 AM).
This is by design. Of course there can be reasonable disagreement about whether this design is optimal. But it is the design. In summary: expect the emails when you post new orders, not when they are filled. Your subscribers will know when orders are filled if they enter your orders when you post them.
Of course anyone who is unsure can come to the web site at any time to see positions and pending orders, or can use Instant Trade Messenger, or can AutoTrade. Or can act on emails when they are sent.
