How to promote your strategy?

This is a fair statement. The title of the thread could easily be interpreted as other ways a trade leader can promote their strategy and give each other tips.

@TheForexSniper
You stated a fair point, but if you read the thread since post 1 you can quickly realize that que first part of the thread was about me trying to understand from other trade leaders what could I do to promote my strategy. Then after the topic got exhausted it naturally evolved to discuss other topics related to being a trade leader, like C2 revenues, C2Star certification, communication with subscribers, etc. In the process, somehow I started to use this thread as a journal where I share the evolution of my strategies, the C2 revenue, the ups and downs of my strategies, ask advice, etc.
This has been an open forum to share C2 experiences as a trade leader, with a strong focus on me and my strategies. A few users have shared in this thread results and links to their strategies, and I never asked anyone to delete their post. I did this time because this strategy and this user have all the alarm signs of a crash and burn risk and I don’t want to be associated with it. In case you haven’t noticed I sign my posts in the forum, and my strategies in C2 with my real name.

Should I continue using this thread?
  • Yes, as it is. As a journal of my C2 experience and forum to ask advice to other trade leaders and potential subscribers
  • Yes, but keep it on the topic
  • No, it’s not interesting anymore

Yes, that much is clear.

C2 does offer some promotional features that would allow you to gain extra exposure for your systems, like the “Featured Strategy” for example: Featuring your strategy

You can also buy some Google, Facebook or Youtube ads (this alone should keep you busy for years, LOL).

Anyway, the best of luck.

Thanks for your extensive work on researching the top strategies, but for some reason 7 of the 8 strategies are from the same trader - TraderTPP. By any chance are you related to him/her?

Given that anyone can do their own research in The Grid and that all the strategies are new (oldest one started in June 2020) and their DDs are quite normal, or even high in some cases (27%; 65,9%; 18,8%; 27,7%; 35,6%; 22,4%; 20%; 13,1%) I would like to ask you to edit your post to clearly identify who you are and your link to those strategies, or ideally by removing the names and links to those strategies. Also I would like you to avoid writing in all caps, because it is a rude thing to do. Alternatively you can completely delete your post if you disagree with me.

As a curiosity please find below some facts about TraderTPP:

  • Created 33 strategies
  • 5 strategies with 100% DD
  • Average age strategy 165 days
  • Strategy age from 21 to 285 days
  • Average return -14,2%
  • Returns from -728,4% to 133,8%
  • I haven’t found a picture or a real name, which is quite useful in case you blow out a few subscribers’ accounts

And just to close this conversation I think your post can be considered SPAM, because you have exactly the same post on a new thread created by you!

Thanks for your message/response.

However, please try not to shoot down other people’s strategies when they’re clearly very good.

I think you’ll probably see there are some ‘test accounts’ with ‘expired contracts’ on them (hence the negatives that exceed the amount in account).

I was trying to assist you with ideas on how to promote your strategy. I wasn’t having a pop. It’s a good strategy. Don’t be so defensive.

Looks promising, got some popcorn.

Sorry to disappoint you @JITF :frowning: It has already ended. Lane has deleted his post and we brought this “small disagreement” to an end on his thread.

I might be crazy, but I bet that TraderTPP, LexiClarck and LCLARCK23161710 are the same person. But now this is not my problem anymore.

In spite of lying and distorting the facts some of these strategies look promising. I will set an alert on my calendar to check them out in 1 year. I will also check how the “Invincible Holy Grail” is doing.

You didn’t disappoint me, I made my conclusions. I didn’t expect such a behavior from the person doing business:

I finally see a C2Star strategy in the leader board. Congrats @reconFactor!

Really appreciate the recognition, @JoaquimFonseca! As you know, staying in the program can be difficult. My strategy is currently going through a miserable drawdown with many of my stops recently getting hit but I expect it will flourish again before long.

So I will keep using this thread as it is, but probably will post my strategies’ updates only once per month!

Everyone is welcome to contribute here if it’s related to the following topics:

  • C2 Trade Leader experience: income, promoting strategies, number of subscribers, etc
  • Anything related to my strategies
  • If put in a polite way, any other topic related to C2

Please DON’T come here to:

  • Promote your own strategies
  • Badmouthing other strategies or traders

@JoaquimFonseca,
Thank you for the effort and perspective that you are putting into the Collective2 forum. In this discussion thread you have asked quite a few good questions which help us (or at least me) to better understand the nuances of how various aspects of Collective2 work. Indeed, there are some very competent traders and some great ideas on this platform and, over time, hopefully Collective2 will develop in such a way that it is defined by excellence.

Staying tuned.

This week news:

  • One new C2Star system reached the Leader Board. Congrats JamieJones with The Winning Team
  • Save For Retirement is ranked #85, yet it did not win a place in the Leaderboard… I thought the leader board was the top100 strategies according to C2 Ranking, but it seems I was wrong.

Trade Leader Identity validation

Browsing a few strategies and forum threads it has become evident that some trade leaders have a few options when their strategies go bellow water:

  • Make the strategy private
  • Create a new C2 account

I think C2 should start to be more rigorous on making sure that trade leaders history is C2 is complete and true, avoiding that strategy subscribers are mislead by a “hidden” trade history. For instance, I found a trade leader who started trading in C2 in 2018, abandoned a few strategies, and started again in December 2020 under another user name. In the abandoned strategies, there are at least 3 that do not seem test strategies, from which one has blown up the account, and the other 2 got serious DD before being abandoned.

Regarding making the strategy private I think C2 should allow this, but the trade leader should only be able to chose if the strategy is public or private before the first trade. After the first trade the strategy visibility should not be possible to change.

This might seem irrelevant to other trade leaders, but if potential subscribers start having trusting issues in C2 platform, all trade leaders will be affected. If they don’t trust the platform, the chances that they will subscribe to any system are very slim.

I do agree; I don’t think traders who have blown up investor’s accounts should come under the guise of a new trader or a new person on Collective2. However, I question if there is any incentive for Collective2 to do this. I’m not even sure if they are even able to do such a thing; as people eventually will find a way around something. Collective2 makes money on both sides of the game where it collects fees for both strategy creators and investors; so no matter how you look at it, they make money both ways.

My favorite thing I’ve noticed browsing these forums is that when a manager links his strategy it creates this little preview/widget with a graph showing their returns. Regardless if the manager later makes that strategy private the widget will still show the graph and you can clearly see how they bombed and destroyed their strategy

Hi,

First, let me commend Joaquim for this thread, which I think is useful not only for traders but for investors as well. I strongly agree that traders shouldn’t hide their performance. As an investor, I’ve learnt how to do some detective work to uncover it, which I’d like to share with the forum. There was an old thread that was very useful for that:

https://forums.collective2.com/t/please-dont-comment-log-of-lessons-learned-from-closed-strategies/

So, here it is. Click on any developer’s name, then click on “Strategy Activity Details” - this will open a page with the history of all their strategies. When you click on any strategy, the URL looks like

https://collective2.com/details/…

Replace “details” with “performance” and you’ll see a chart of the strategy even if it is private.

I hope this helps. Good trading to all!

Hello,

I realized that you are writing in your post about me. -) Thank you for your interest in my person. -) I have never hidden that I had another profile here and that I opened a new profile. You are raising an important issue. I personally do not mind that the new profile displays information about old profiles. But this is not realizable, the developer can open the profile for other passports and hide it. Leaving and coming again with a clean reputation. The greatest danger is represented by those who do not talk about their past failures and hide it. I wish you good trading as a developer. Have a nice day.

March 2021 was my first month in C2 with negative returns :frowning:

Save for Retirement is #106
Save for Retirement LR is #525
S4R Value & Growth is #539

The strategies that were in C2Star program have been punished hard due to having closed many positions in an attempt of avoid violating the program criteria. Now, that I am back at my normal trading with these 2 strategies, replicating live trades, I expect that both strategies will slowly go back to top 100 of C2 strategies.
