Does anybody have experience how good (slippage) the executions at MB are for long/short stock systems? I am getting very frustrated with short executions at OX - long delays, frequent non availability of shortable stocks, system failures, etc. It works well at IB but I have already a similar long/short system at IB and it would be hard to monitor two similar systems with many of the same stocks all at IB.
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
I think you can easily open a sub-account at IB, so you can keep trades separate. I never tried it, but apparently it is just a matter of a few clicks.
Thanks ironcito for pointing that out.
I still would like to hear frome someone who is using MB Trading for a long/short stock system.
I traded a long stock system at MB via Tradebullet, and the fills were okay.
Can you please tell me why you chose MB over Interactive Brokers or OptionsXpress?
Is it because you negotiated a flat commission per trade which is better than the $8 per trade one can get at OX?
They were less restrictive in accepting customers with respect to number of years traded and net worth. After some time I opened an IB account too, and after a year I closed the MBT account. The reason for that was that in a non-daytrading account MBT will let you make the fourth daytrade and then freezes the account for 90 days, while IB will simply not allow you to make that fourth daytrade. I thought that was more convenient. Unfortunately that wasn’t waterproof either, because if your account is above 25K then IB will of course allow you to make the fourth daytrade, but if the account then falls below 25K they will still freeze it for 90 days
