What is a better investment than Bet Coins?

You pay with your phone, .000000001 of a coin

There you go. you can split it into any ratio, it is infinity.

Let’s say there is only one coin. You want to use is as a currency. Do you think it is worth the world?
Beside, any independent country can develop their own bitcoin if they want. But it need law and process to use it to replace the paper currency.

let’s say the bitcoin is a product. There is cost to develop it like the software. Then it should have a fair price. The current price is insane. Only those smart guy think they can make money out of it. if you are not disciplined, the smart will be the stupid.

Let’s day the value of bitcoin is unregulated flow in the market. Then, who need it? Dark side.

any trading with bitcoin can be tracked. It is just not regulated.

The supply is not fixed at 21 million , that’s artificial . They just released a new Bitcoin today called super Bitcoin with a supply of 21 million .
Don’t forget to count Bitcoin cash and Bitcoin gold coins as well and keep an eye on next forks this month with a new versions of bitcoins .

But your candy bar is not going down in price, nothing is going down

Fascinating thread. Time will only tell how all this is going to play out. I feel it’s worth investing 5-10% of your portfolio… if you can afford to.
What’s the best way to do this though?
Are there any CC ETF’s yet?
Is there a managed fund that specializes in CC’s? Polychain Capital?
When are we going to see some CC strategies pop up on C2?

My opinion, when I see a lot of ads for something like catastrophe coming to the market, buy my book. Or Bitcoin everywhere. I do the opposite.

But investing 5k in about 20 penny cryptos wouldn’t be the worst idea.

David, I agree that the best opportunity for bitcoin Investors were a year ago or so. Therefore the bitcoin share of my crypto Portfolio is only 10%. But for the crypto market in general there is still so much potential. I expect the market to grow to 5 trillion at the very least within the next 1-2 years. That’s still 10x from where we are today. So when this whole market is about to X-fold and you invest in the right projects that drive the market you will get even higher returns. That means there are still once in a lifetime opportunities, it’s just not bitcoin. The 3 projects mentioned by TT3 are good examples of what price explosions are still possible in crypto.

That’s why I recommend people to get informed because the “easy money” aka bitcoin will eventually get outpaced by others. At least that’s my opinion based on my research. But I do have a base for that opinion and that’s important for investment decisions.

I think it is worth a position. I had about 10% of my portfolio in a market cap weighted portfolio of the top 10 cryptocurrencies. Now I have reduced it to 5% of my portfolio for the time being, and that 5% is pure profit now from cryptos. I plan for nearly all my positions to be held for longer than a year to get long term capital gains treatment. At one point I held a bit of “a product launched by the Swedish company XBT Provider AB” which is “available to investors in 179 countries via Interactive Brokers.” I was going to hold it in my IRA to avoid tax. However, it had about a 2.5% yearly fee and only held bitcoin. If I just hold cryptocurrencies in a hardware wallet or something I don’t have to pay any taxes or yearly fees (except at purchase). Plus after not so many years I would have to pay more in annual fees to the fund via the 2.5% yearly fee than I would in long term capital gains on the portion I sell. Anyways, I found it more advantageous for my long term hold style in this space to just purchase the currencies myself. Basically I buy BTC, ETH, or LTC at coinbase.com or gemini.com then transfer enough to Bittrex.com or Kraken.com to buy other cryptos. After that I either transfer to a hardware wallet or to a paper wallet in a safety deposit box.

Again, things could totally go south, which is why I only have 5% of my portfolio, and that 5% is purely from profit in cryptos at this point. I had friends asking me about it. So, I made this short video for them.

Norman, the best way to do it is to do it yourself. Research individual coins/projects, do your due dilligence and inform yourself about security when trading and storing crypto. If you find just 1-2 projects that 100x in the next 2 years it’ll be worth the effort.

Besides, there are only bitcoin futures currently. CBOE futures started trading just this week and CME futures will start next week. So you really can’t invest in crypto by traditional means if you want to diversify. And it also shows how young this market still is. But honestly, that’s the whole point of crypto. It is a way of decentralising things (projects, assets, services and money) in a trustless manner so you don’t need conventional exchanges or banks to participate. All you need is money (even cash works) and Internet. And knowledge if you want to have longterm success.

if you think it is worth something. go ahead to invest. don’t cry if you are screwed.

Ethereum futures will be available shortly. A bitcoin ETN and ethereum ETN have been available for a while and can be bought through interactive brokers, however they are on a Swedish exchange and are bought/sold/valued in foreign currency SEK. Google “bitcoin tracker one” for more info. Last I looked the ETN has a big premium over bitcoin for the convenience of buying an ETN.

Alright, I was only monitoring the US market as that is where the money is. It´s true that there will be US ETFs on Bitcoin and Ethereum but currently they do not exist. Anyways, my point was that this market is still very young in regards of being adopted by conventional investors and that fact stays valid as well as the fact that you can´t diversify with traditional instruments on cryptos.

I´ll go google those ETNs though. If they trade at a high premium I could maybe short sell them while having real bitcoin as a hedge and therefore have an arbitrage trade as there is no cost involved in holding bitcoins. It really depends on the interest I´d have to pay to short sell the ETN, maybe that makes up the whole premium and neglects any arbitrage opportunity… Let´s see how effective this market is already.

That might not be a bad idea with US exchanges adding futures and eventually their own ETFs. You’d expect demand for those early ETNs to fall.

Crypto-currencies getting hammered. Correction getting deeper? Good luck.

Yep, I was hoping this wouldn’t hit for another month or two, but it was due. I’ve been through a lot of these crashes now. They happen on a regular basis.

Very Hard Day.
