Bitcoin futures execution

Bitcoin futures trading is supposed to be 24/7, yet I have noticed that when executing a market order outside of RTH, it just sits there. Are we tied to CME’s (or wherever the futures are traded) trading hours when trading them?

CME trades Sunday -Friday, same as all other future hours.

Futures trade 23/5.
So you are tied to CME; and am not sure about volume, but think that market order will work.
Only problem is spread, since volume both for CME and CBOE Bitcoin futures is really low (around 3000 per day)-

Bitcoin can be traded via crypto exchanges like GDAX; Kraken, Binance… 24/7.

Well, the futures markets have been open for 13 hours and my market sell order hasn’t been executed for 10+ minutes

Edit: Make it 3 hours, my market order has been “working” for that long.

Please, look here.

“Market Orders for XBT futures contracts will not be accepted. Any Market Orders for XBT futures contracts received by the Exchange will be automatically rejected or canceled back to the sender. Stop Limit Orders are permitted during regular and extended trading hours for the XBT futures contract”

Try with limit order. I only saw this today, it could be reason why it is not working for you.

Hm, interesting. I will test it out…

Edit: Yeap, it worked. I had to put a lower than current price limit order in and it was executed (after the warning) as a market order. Nice to know…

It’s simple to setup an account on a crypto exchange and trade 24/7 along with being able to trade other cryptos that have more potential upside than bitcoin.
