Is there still a way to "zoom" charts - starting at any date since inception…and have the S&P/"system" have the same starting points???

This feature is currently not available on the new charts. It’s a feature we desperately want to add, though, but there are currently some technical limitations we need to figure out.
It’s definitely on the list, and I share your desire to have it.
