Quick one regarding system reviews:
I submitted a review of a system to which I subscribe, noticed a grammatical error and removed the review to correct it.
When I looked to re-post the review with the correction I found that there didn’t seem to be a way to do this.
Is there a time limit on a re-post of a review, or another sort of limitation?
Thanks.
Dear Sam,
Go ahead and provide me with your system name and I’ll take a look at this for you.

Hi Melissa,
The system I was looking to post a review for was Strawberry Rhubarb FX.
Others have since posted reviews equivalent to what I would have looked to post, but if you’d be willing to look into it and provide me with some insight into the review policy for the site here I’d appreciate it.
It seems like at the moment at least, it’s not possible to remove and resubmit a review.
Thanks a lot-
Sam M.
Hello Sam,
We used to allow people to re-review systems, several times.
But too many people abused this by re-posting negative (or positive) reviews that we had to remove this ability.
We know it is not perfect, and in some cases it prevents legitimate reviews from being posted (like yours which just had a grammatical error), for which we apologize.

Hey Alen,
Thanks for getting back to me and I can certainly understand the reasoning for the policy.
Just to clarify however, at this point and with this understanding- would I be correct in assuming that I’ll now never be able to review this system, whether it be in the near or distant future?
If this is the case and I may offer an opinion, it seems like the policy then might be able to benefit from a degree of flexibility on a case by case basis. In particular for instances where the review is being removed and then reposted, as opposed to the submission of multiple reviews for the same system by one subscriber.
If this is already part of Collective2’s consideration regarding the policy then my apologies. Perhaps it’s simply something to keep in mind for the future.
Thanks again,
Sam M.
Sam,
You can always create a system note and make it public, it just doesn’t affect the system’s rating. You can also edit this at any time.
I think the system rating should be separate from the review. That’s my opinion.
The review can be changed at any time or have multiple reviews at different times, maybe even have subscribers rate the reviews like the system notes.
The rating on the other hand can’t be changed after is submitted.
I wasn’t aware of the system notes so I’m glad to have that to consider, thanks Julio.
I also like your idea of allowing for the separate submission of a review and a rating.
That in itself I think might work well, however there would still exist the challenge of having one dissatisfied subscriber submitting a deluge of negative reviews if there weren’t a restriction of some kind. Like you say, allowing for multiple reviews but at different times. A once-per-month or other similar limitation might work well with the policy.
Again thanks, like the idea.
Sam,
Thank you. Glad to help. I think system owners are more concern with the rating of their system being negative because it impacts the system overall. I also think system owners like to get negative or positive feedback on their systems without affecting the overall rating. You can have other subscribers rate the review instead of just having the system owner write a rebuttal. Donât put any restrictions on the reviews but on the system rating like it can only be rated once, be a current subscriber and have been a subscriber for a certain period of time like 30 days.
Exactly the same happened to me. There should be at least a warning when I delete my review that I will never be able to resubmit a review after that!
Can you please explain why updating a review is abusing or a problem?
thanks,
- Panu

Hi, Panu -
It’s just simply bad software design. I intend to fix it soon. I apologize for the problem.
