Are you comparing drawdowns as well ? Because a higher return combined with a higher drawdown is not beating . It depends .

I am comparing 1 yr and 3 mo returns… TQQQ and SOXL Vs their respective strategies… The strategies do slightly worse, much worse when you add in their costs… 
None of the TQQQ strategies have been around for more than a couple of years. It’s long term average is just above 60%. Don’t expect 100% years as normal returns. However buy and hold does eliminate the yearly capital gains you would pay taxes on. Just accept the normal 30% and it’s fine. I hold some in my IRA account.
