Trade Leader feature is now available for all brokers

C2 now supports publishing your manual trades as trading system signals for all gen3 brokers. No need to learn a new strategy language, no need to learn a new platform: you can use your broker’s trading platform to place orders in your live brokerage account and your positions will be published as a Trade Leader on C2. You can then use C2 as a private result tracking tool, lease your trading system to C2’s 70,000+ members, or even offer it for free if you want.

Best of all, you can Autotrade other C2 strategies in the same account at the same time. You can also publish trades generated by 3rd party software that run your strategy if the trades are placed in your live account.

Oh and it’s FREE!

We support Rithmic, CTS (T4), CQG, GAIN, FXCM, Interactive Brokers, MBTrading, and OptionsHouse (tradeMONSTER).

What about margin differentials for forex if i used my FXCM UK account ?

First, let me clarify that the following post is about the Trade Leader feature, which allows you to use your real-life brokerage account to submit trade signals into a trading strategy that you manage on C2. (In other words, when you use this feature, the goal is to gain subscribers for your strategy, so that they can pay you subscription fees if you are successful.) If you have no interest in being a Trade Leader, or no interest in using your broker account to do so, this post does not apply to you.

The key thing to remember is that C2 has no idea what size your real-life broker account is. It only knows what size your C2 Model Account is.

So you should make sure that, when you set up your C2 Model Account originally (i.e. when you turn on the Trade Leader feature), your C2 Model Account should have enough capital such that any trades you place into your broker account will be allowed in your C2 Model Account.

Other than that, it really doesn’t matter what size you start your C2 Model Account. You could, for example, start your Model Account on C2 with $500,000 of capital, while your real-life broker account might only have $25,000. The Trade Leader feature ignores the size differential. It will look at the trades you place in your broker account, and attempt to replicate those positions exactly – including the size you place them at – in your C2 Model Account. So, if you place a trade for 10,000 EUR/USD in your broker account, that is the exact trade size that will be placed in your C2 Model Account – regardless of the difference in the capital of both accounts.

Keep in mind that when you have subscribers to your strategy who want to follow your Model Account, they will be able to set up a Trade Scaling %. So followers will be able to make trades larger or smaller, depending on their real-life account size.

I just wanted NinjaBrokerage to add me as Trade Leader and I got this:

Good evening. We have been notified by Collective2, via the clearing firm, Dorman, that you would like your account to be setup as a Trade Leader. Please note that the same AutoTrading fee applies.

Which Autotrading fee ?

Thank you for the reply. The AutoTrading fee is assessed by Collective2 and it’s the same if you were a subscriber, rather than a trade leader. In addition, you will be charged the fees below by using CTS:

$0.50 / contract
$25 monthly minimum
$500 cap

I thought, it was free ??

Any update on this? I’m also considering using NinjaTrader Brokerage to be a trade leader but want to make sure I understand exactly what fees are charged. Thanks

You asked: what does the “Trade Leader” program cost?

The short answer is: “As of today: Zero.”

Now, let me back up and offer more information for people joining this discussion late:

What is the C2 “Trade Leader” program?

C2’s “Trade Leader” program lets you use your regular brokerage account to “drive” your trading track record here at C2.

In other words, when you set up the Trade Leader program, you don’t need to type in manually any trades here at Collective2; just trade at your broker, as you normally would, and we’ll automatically “read” your trades and use them to create your real-time track record here at C2. Very cool!

We originally built this Trade Leader technology specifically for Interactive Brokers. The cost of using it at Interactive Brokers (IB) has always been zero. IB doesn’t charge you anything extra for this, and neither does C2.

The response from C2 Members to the Trade Leader program was enthusiastic, and so we decided to extend the program to other brokers…

Alas, here, things got a bit trickier. Some brokers (for technical reasons, not because they are bad people) needed to charge a small fee for trades made through the Trade Leader program.

Of course we wanted to support those brokers, because we wanted to make all C2 Members happy - even those who use brokers charging those fees.

But, ultimately, after some experimenting with this approach, we have decided it isn’t worthwhile: C2 Members get mad at us (even though we aren’t the ones charging a fee), and also our customer-service team has to spend time explaining the fee, and customers feel sad, and…

Well, you get the idea.

So:

Starting today, we have turned off the Trade Leader program for any brokers that charge extra fees to use it.

This means, if you sign up for the Trade Leader program, it’s free. Brokers do not charge any per-trade fees to use it.

The brokers we support include: Interactive Brokers, MB Trading, OptionHouse, Gain Capital / OpenECry, Daniels Trading, and others.

Matthew

Great but can I connect my existing strategy, which is 1.5 years old, to this? And would it only add new trades going forward, that is not overwrite/replace the C2 strategy history with the IB account history?
And what about scaling the trade sizes down since my IB account trades approx 5 times the size of my C2 strategy. Tks

  1. If you decide to use the Trade Leader program, you can send your trades into an existing C2 strategy. Keep in mind all orders are converted to market orders when sent to your C2 Model Account.

  2. We do not support scaling your trades up or down when you use the Trade Leader program to drive your Model Account. Whatever size you trade in your IB account will be the size of trade placed in your C2 Model Account.

Mathew,

When you said:

what does the "Trade Leader" program cost?

The short answer is: "As of today: Zero."

What about the listing fee of $120 per 6 months? Are you saying the listing fee is waived for trade leader programs as well?

No, we still require a Listing Fee to keep your strategy visible on C2.

I just meant that there is no extra per-trade charge nor any sort of software charge to enable the Trade Leader program (i.e. “Trade Leader” = read-your-broker-account-to-drive-your-C2-strategy).

Sorry for my lack of precision.

Matthew

I am attempting to get this running. First problem: The maximum model account size is $250,000 but my real account is much larger. Plus there is no trade scaling allowed. Solution anyone?

Second problem: What happens if we trade futures contracts that are not listed on C2 as a tradable product. For example I trade MCH futures on the HKFE but C2 don’t allow them.

Just a quick update on this for anyone that cares. I’ve been using Trade Leader for over a month and it is working perfectly. Good job team C2 and thanks.

MCH is supported by C2.

Nothing will happen if we do not support a symbol–we will ignore those positions.

Hi Matthew,

I just submitted a New Topic “Use your broker account to become a trading leader” where I have 3 questions.

With respect to THIS post, and considering my IB account to be a different size than my C2 Model Account, my 4th question would be:
4a. Are ALL trades mirrored from IB into C2 or can I exclude some trades?

4b. If I wish to make my Model Account say $250k and my IB account is actually $50k, in order to % scale the trade it now seems to me that I would have to scale it DOWN…ie I would thus have to place trades via C2 web order entry page into the $250k strategy and then AutoTrade it in my IB account scaled accordingly, yes?

4c. What would my extra fees be?

Thanks,
Thomas
