TOS does make a difference, night and day difference prob not. but managing real money vs paper money is different. Also margin trading in c2 is not realistic TOS vs non TOS. because no real trader in their right mind would trade 20 future contracts on $50k account. or else they have a tight tight stop loss.
What is the main pattern of these strategy that blew up? highly levereage and no STOP LOSS. the main reason is they want to gain subscriber > all. They highly leverage so they can attract subscriber with xxx% gains in 3 months. then when the trade go against them, they double down instead of stoploss. because they want to make up the gains to keep the subscribers instead of stop loss. Also all the strategy that crashed recently most of them are NOT TOS. Did some TOS strategy crashed in Feb, yes they did. Also the main reason these strategy blew up because of leverage. again, no real money trader will lever up 30x on their account. they know a 2% move will bankrupts them. so they manage risk and leverage differently vs trading fake money on c2. as a future trader, on 50k account, trading 2 contract on ES/YM is already my max acceptance. if the market correct 10%, i might willing to long 4 contacts at the most. You see these āSPAM advertisingā strategy are trading 10-20 contacts on 50k, that will only end badly. Simplicity trading had a good run in 2017. BTFD worked for 16 month straight, then it all ended in a week.
one small thing to point out, is TOS manager they make more money or most their money from their trading. NON-TOS manager make their money from subscribers. so their mind set is not about protecting principal, they mostly focus on performance and attract subscribers.
just my 2 cents.
