I wonder what happens if I have a sell order that is filled for a stock that I own, but my subscribers do not own that stock. My expectation is that they do not receive the signal, but I want to be sure.

You are correct. C2 AutoTrade takes care of this and makes sure that only positions that are in the account are closed.
