A listing of recent signals on the new dashboard would be much appreciated.
Being a developer, I like this feature to control if my broker transactions got through correctly and timely. (using broker transmit to drive my strategies)
FYI. Using the Beta version I tried simulation mode for a strategy and then decided to convert to live trading. The process was seamless except after completing the process a small highlighted icon (square) appeared next to the system which indicated waiting for broker approval before trading could be started. I already have an approved live broker account in use for several years now.
I had to stop the pending auto trading for the strategy, look at my subscriptions available for auto trading, click on the desired system, and go through the entire process again. Using this method auto trading was enabled immediately upon completion of the process.
This appears to be a glitch.
I dont like the new dashboard, how i can see my positions open for each strategy? How i can know how is going each position?, you only give a summary for full strategy, thats not enought for people worry about their money.
Quite concerned if you put in live this version, its going to be hard to monitorize the positions, and what about the positions that you enter manually in your broker? I cant see anything about that, yes i know is not your main business, but sometimes we could have systems that trade manually to enter only when you have less risk in your portfolio and with this version you cant see anything because is not in autotrading and we are paying a suscription for that system.
Please think too in 2 kinds of people here:
- people that pay suscription but want to manual trade some systems.
- people that want to control and monitorize each position for each system, no just leave and see in 3 months if you earn money or not.
You should review some comments im not the only one with this concern.
In other hand simulated tool is great, but dont worth the improve if you kill the important things where our money goes.
just other comment, activity feed is good idea, but leave to us the option
of what to show and what no, i dont care about others making a suscription or what system make a new high or thing like that (maybe others want it) but in my case looks great show last trades of all my strategies there, but for that i have to see a lot of things that im not interested, looks more like Facebook than a feed of my investments, some filters and settings there would be appreciated.
I strongly support this suggestion
please view my attached picture. the new dashboard is very inconvenient as it doesn’t allows us to quickly see our open positions and the models open positions so we can compare. now I have to click the gear to show my positions and it doesn’t show the model position. the picture below is the old dashboard which is much faster to view. please add this to the new one.
I’ve started simulation of the strategy using new interface. Then in old interface I’ve signed up for free trial period of another strategy also using simulated brokers account. Now I have two strategies on simulated brokers account. But new dashboard/portfolio shows only one strategy added in new interface as simulation.
Why can’t I see my position on the main dashboard without having to make an extra mouse click.
All user-interface design is a question of taste and judgment. Our goal in the new dashboard design is to give people a high-level view of how they are performing. In some ways, we try to mirror the way a broker or an advisor reports results to a customer. They don’t necessary show you the holdings of each fund you hold on the first screen, or the first page of your monthly report. They show you high-level performance. If you want to see additional information, you can click and drill down to see it. That’s the thinking, at any rate.
But there is also a very important functional use of the Dashboard related to the autotrading process and the fact that is isn’t perfectly flawless and 100% reliable (due to whatever reason … C2 problems, broker problems, system vendor issues, etc.). If there is a mistake that needs manual intervention ASAP, the ability to identify that and take quick action is hampered if multiple clicks and bouncing between system pages are needed to investigate the issue. And the more systems one is following the more important it is to be able to see all open positions and new orders in one place, on one screen, as with the current Dashboard. I think it would be a step backwards to eliminate this important functional aspect of the Dashboard, especially if the only reason is for (possibly) better aesthetics.
if you manual trade some system you dont have a way to see any position even any system of which you are paying, you have to create your own watchlist and go to the page system by system to see your position, quite weird in my opinion.
The idea of simplify is good for some users but i think we are a bunch that need “more”, in the broker you can enter to see all your positions if you want but in your dashboard you dont give that option, when you simplify too much the things in the end you dont show nothing and that for a ETF is ok but for active trading dont look the best option(in my opinion).
To address your point quite specifically:
The green “sync” checkmark tells you if your broker account is in sync with the Model or not.
More broadly, though:
I am grateful for this and all feedback. Even if we don’t ultimately agree with everything you and other members suggest (which isn’t to say I do not; I simply don’t know at this point), I’ll make sure everyone on the C2 team thinks carefully about each suggestion and piece of feedback we receive as we continue to iterate (and hopefully improve) the new design.
Matt, everyone is complaining. I sub to over 10 systems and to click each gear to see positions is going to slow me down and hurt performance if i need to make changes, at least add a drop down arrow to open up positions on same page like the old dashboard.
What you are asking for already exists. Click the gear, see open positions. Look at screen shot below:
The “Show Open Positions” choice does not appear if you do not have any open positions. Also it does not appear if you are "SIM"ming a strategy, as we do not reveal open position details to SIMmers.
The Simulation you offer is nowhere near as useful as a free trial. One of my main criteria for evaluating a system is whether or not I can trade it manually and get results similar to the model. Without the trade signals, there is no way to tell. The new simulation is not much better than watching the chart of system profit/loss from a particular point in time.
@TT3 - Re-reading you original complaint, I see that I jumped the gun in saying that what you want is available. You were complaining about the fact that on the new Dashboard there is no single screen that shows all open positions. I agree this is currently not available, and I’ll make a note of this suggestion, which seems reasonable.
Thumbs up! And having it “live” like the present Dashboard so that new trades are shown is extremely useful. When in “monitor mode” and not shopping around for new strategies, I pretty much sit on this page all day to track activity, and to manage the two systems I am following via manual trading…
I agree with this comment. In general I don’t think that the simulation replaces / phases out free trials. As I understand one of its goal to do that. With all respect, this is a baby/bathwater issue again (we had a few of these on C2.)
Re: SIM, in general. [This is not a UI issue, so feel free to move it to a separate thread (or ignore it), but for me it is a usability issue.] I for one use the equity graph of individual systems as a starting point (pre-filter, if you wish) to start my analysis, that is based on data (and not on UI.) I download the trades and/or download the actual signals and analyze them with my tools.
I understand and agree that this is not (only) a UI issue, but this is very important (IMHO) for a seamless user experience, where by “user” I mean C2 user and not “only” a C2 website user. To have data download of SIM makes it useful. To see yet another pretty pictures is just too much effort (on your part) that doesn’t justify the value (for me.)
At the end of the day C2 is about data. Trading data. Performance data. Margin. Equity. Distribution. Consistency. Smoothness. Reliability. Stability. To think as (C2 does and as C2 Explorer does) that pre-canned graphs, queries, tables, grids, etc can (eventually?) replace / satisfy all data needs is not a “matter of taste.” It is a fundamental architectural mistake. By all means: present (some) data. And make it available too! Please.
Apologies for the rant. </2 cents.>
Joseph
Matt, thanks for adding the open positions to the dashboard. How about adding a manage position button right next to the open position. so we can quickly add or reduce positions instead of going to another position page.
also on the simulation page, can you add the tab on the side to show all the open positions too. these are for systems i’m subscribed too.
